Christmas at Forward Church
The Light Has Come
This Christmas, we gather to celebrate the moment Light entered the world. Jesus, God with us, is the source of our hope. No matter where you are in your faith journey, you are invited to join us as we worship, reflect, and rejoice in the hope that Christ brings.
The Light God Promised
Sunday, December 21 at 10:30 AM
📍 341 Vincennes St, New Albany, IN
🎥 Livestream available for online attenders
At Christmas, we remember when God stepped into our world and fulfilled His long-promised word. Isaiah wrote, “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light” Isaiah 9:2. That Light is Christ, born in humility and bringing hope to every generation.
Join us as we celebrate the birth of Jesus through worship, Scripture, and a message centered on the peace He gives. Whether you know the Christmas story well or are exploring faith, this morning reminds us that God is with us, Emmanuel, and that His light still shines in the darkness.
A Light-Filled Morning for Kids
forKids
Kids from Nursery through 5th Grade will enjoy a fun and meaningful Christmas Sunday with activities, worship, and an age-appropriate Bible lesson about the birth of Jesus. Our forKids team will help them understand the joy and hope He brings in a warm and welcoming environment. No registration required.
Propel Middle
Propel Middle will meet during the message for a Christmas lesson that helps students understand the hope Jesus brings and why His coming matters today. Leaders will guide them through Scripture, conversation, and practical application in a friendly and encouraging setting.
Atmosphere
Come as you are. Leave encouraged.
We’re a casual, welcoming church where you don’t have to have it all together. Whether you’re in jeans or dressed up, you’ll fit right in. Expect friendly faces, genuine community, and a warm environment that feels especially inviting during the Christmas season.
Worship
Live music that lifts up the name of Jesus.
Our worship is heartfelt and Christ-centered, not just songs, but a time to refocus, reflect, and respond to who God is. You’ll experience modern worship that celebrates the hope we have in Jesus, especially meaningful during Christmas.
Teaching
Hope-filled truth straight from God’s Word.
Every message is grounded in Scripture and speaks to real life. You’ll walk away encouraged, challenged, and reminded that hope is alive because Jesus came near. It’s a message that resonates deeply during Christmas.
forKids
Fun, safe, and centered on Jesus.
Our forKids ministry (Nursery–5th Grade) helps children build a foundation of faith through age-appropriate Bible teaching, games, music, and activities. On December 21, they’ll enjoy a special Christmas lesson in a safe and joyful environment.
Propel
Faith-building for the next generation.
Propel is our student ministry for middle and high schoolers. Students gather for fun, friendships, and deep faith-building through worship and teaching. Middle schoolers break out during the Sunday message for a Christmas-focused teaching.
Adult Bible Study
Grow deeper before the service.
Join us Sunday mornings from 9–10 AM, just before the worship service. This group meets in the classroom behind the Worship Center and is open to all adults who want to grow in faith and community through Bible study and discussion.
Community
Coffee, conversation, and connection.
Come early, grab a cup of coffee, and meet someone new. Whether you’re ready to jump in or just exploring, you’ll find space to connect at your own pace — and Christmas is a wonderful time to do it.
What should I expect when I arrive?
Friendly faces, warm greetings, worship, biblical teaching, and a welcoming environment. You don’t need to know anything ahead of time—just come as you are.
Do I need to dress up?
Not at all! Come just as you are. Some people enjoy dressing up a little for Christmas, while others come in jeans and a sweater. What matters most is that you’re here — not what you’re wearing.
How early should I arrive?
We recommend arriving 15–20 minutes early to park, grab coffee, check in your kids, and find a seat.
If you’re visiting for the first time, stop by the Welcome Desk — we’d love to meet you and help you get settled.
I’ve never been to church before... is this for me?
Absolutely. You’ll be welcomed, encouraged, and never pressured. We believe the light and hope Jesus brings is for everyone — including you.
What if I haven't been to church in a long time?
You’re in the right place. Christmas is a beautiful time to reconnect with God and community. You’ll be welcomed and never pressured.
Is there anything special for my kids?
Yes! All kids join the church family in worship first, celebrating Jesus, the Light who came into the world. After worship, our forKids ministry (Nursery–5th Grade) is dismissed to their secure and age-appropriate environments for Bible-centered teaching that helps them know and follow Jesus. They’ll enjoy activities, community, and a joyful morning focused on the hope Christ brings. No registration required — just check them in when you arrive.
Will my middle or high schooler have something too?
Yes! Students also begin the service with everyone in worship. After worship:
- Propel Middle (grades 6–8) is dismissed for age-appropriate, Bible-focused teaching that helps students grow in their faith and understand the light and hope Jesus brings.
- High school students remain in the main service for the message.
Both middle and high school students come together for our weekly Propel Night every Wednesday at 7 PM, where they learn from Scripture, build community, and grow in their walk with Christ.
How does check-in work for forKids and Propel Middle?
Before service, a member of our forKids team will help you check in your children at our check-in stations. Every child receives a unique printed tag, and you’ll receive a matching parent tag for pickup. Safety is a priority for us, and all volunteers are background-checked.
Can my kids stay with me in the main service?
Yes, you’re welcome to keep your kids with you for the entire service if that’s more comfortable for your family. We love having families worship together.
Will there be childcare for babies and toddlers?
Yes. Our Nursery environments are available after worship. They include simple, age-appropriate activities and loving care from trained volunteers.
Is there a space for nursing moms or parents with infants?
Yes! We have a dedicated nursing room available for mothers who prefer a quiet and private space. It’s comfortable, secure, and allows you to continue watching and listening to the service so you don’t miss anything. You’re also welcome to keep your baby with you in the main service if that’s more comfortable — we love having families worship together.
How long is the Christmas service?
The service will be about 60–75 minutes. We celebrate together through worship, Scripture, and a message focused on the hope Jesus brings.
Is the service family-friendly?
Absolutely. Kids and students join everyone in the auditorium for worship, then are dismissed to their environments if you choose. You’re also welcome to keep your kids with you the whole time if you prefer.
What will the message be about?
The message will focus on Jesus, the Light of the World, and the hope He brings. It’s grounded in Scripture and centered on the gospel.
Will there be online options?
Yes! You can watch the Christmas service livestream on our website, Facebook, or YouTube.
Tune in at 10:30 AM on Sunday, December 21.
