Elder - Tim Neal

Name: Tim Neal

About me: I’m 62, lived in this area all my life. Worked in my family business, American Coach Travel, for 29 years. Semi-retired 2 years ago. I do handyman work part time.

About my family: Married to Shawn for 26 years. 4 children, Grace, Mary, Anna, Sarah. 2 grandsons, Liam and Lincoln. 3 dogs and 2 cats.

Fun facts

Favorite ice cream flavor: Vanilla – I know it’s boring

Favorite dream vacation destination: Mountains – anywhere far away from the city

Favorite board/card game: I don’t like board games, but I have been known to play a mean hand of euchre.

Favorite movie/TV show: Gladiator, Braveheart, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Favorite Bible verse: It changes from time to time. I really like Lamentations 3:22-23, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning, great is your faithfulness.”

How long have you attended Forward? We started coming the second or third week in the Georgetown Nazarene church.

How long have you been on elder board? I am an original elder.

In what ways do you volunteer at Forward?  I help in forKids and building renovations.

Tell us about a time that was especially meaningful for you in your time of ministry at Forward. All of our big outreach events have been special. Seeing the joy on the faces of families from the community is great. Also, some of my closest bonds in the church were built by working with other volunteers on these events.

Why We Give How to Give

Chest Of Joash

The Chest of Joash provides an opportunity to give above and beyond the normal tithe. The money from it goes directly to work needed done on our building.

In 2 Chronicles 24 we find Joash repairing the temple and a chest was set outside of it for people to bring a tithe that was used to pay the workers restoring the temple. Verse 10 says, “And all the princes and all the people rejoiced and brought their tax and dropped it into the chest until they had finished.”

A huge THANK YOU to all of you who have joyfully donated just as the Israelite officials and people did!

With money that has been raised in the Chest of Joash over the past 3 years ($50,089 since January 2017!), we have been able to

  • Build a ramp off of our sidewalk for those with a handicap
  • Dedicate parking spots in our parking lot with Handicap and First Time Visitor signs
  • Seal our roof to repair several leaks
  • Paint the exterior of the building along with the barn wood design and Forward Church signage
  • Build classrooms in our back hallway for Bible studies and other classes to take place
  • Pave and stripe our parking lot
  • Expand our worship space to provide room for more people during COVID 19 social distancing restrictions

You can give to the Chest of Joash by clicking the button below and selecting “Chest of Joash” in the drop down menu.
